RECORDER
This class will teach students basic notes, rhythms, and songs on a small handheld instrument- the recorder! A small thin plastic or wooden flute, this instrument gives kids the opportunity to learn to play an instrument without having to wait until they are older.
INTRODUCTORY PATH PROGRAM (IPP)
From the parent’s perspective, enrolling their young student in the IPP at $80 per class is analogous to ordering à la carte from a restaurant menu.
Under the IPP, piano students can take Recorder as a second instrument for an additional $80. The IPP is designed to serve as a first step for its students, particularly recorder students, to matriculate to their next instrument in their musical development–be it winds or strings. This setup is intended to provide SCM in the future with a sufficient quantity of adequately proficient students to supply our advanced ensembles: Advanced Band, Advanced Orchestra, and Jazz Band.
Expectations
- It is mandatory for each student to have an instrument to practice on
- Each student must bring their instrument to class
Attendance is mandatory - Missed classes will result in being dropped from the class
- Practice is mandatory – 20 to 30 minutes per day per instrument is the minimum
- Unruly or destructive behavior will result in removal from the program without refund
